Melony Catana, AScT, worked on this project while she was employed at EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd. The development is situated adjacent to, and within 30 meters of, Mara Lake and Gilles Brook and is therefore subject to the Riparian Areas Regulation (RAR) and other environmental legislation. Melony prepared environmental management prescriptions, a detailed riparian restoration plan and monitored stages of the development, including directional drilling for the hydrothermal system. Melony liaised with regulatory agencies and First Nations, and assisted her client obtain environmental permits, including a Section 9 Water Act Approval and a Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA) Review.
Mill Creek Rail Bridge Crossing

Predator Ridge

Elevate principal, Melony Catana, AScT, worked on this project while she was employed at EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd. Melony was the project manager of environmental services provided to Predator from 2008-2009. She prepared and/or supervised the preparation Section 9 Applications, for renovation projects on the golf course. She conducted a RAR Assessment for the golf course and residential development, adjacent to Birdie Lake, and prepared detailed riparian and aquatic habitat designs.
District of Houston Leisure Centre Geoexchange

Elevate CEO, Melony Catana, AScT, worked on this project while she was employed at EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd. This project involved directional drilling adjacent to a river in order to install geothermal lines. Melony prepared a construction environmental management plan for the project, conducted environmental monitoring during line installation, liaised with regulators and prepared reports and documentation that was requested by the Western Economic Diversification Canada.
Port Mann Water Supply Tunnel

This project involved tunnel boring under the Fraser River, from Surrey to Coquitlam. Melony worked with a team to prepare the construction environmental management plan. She also prepared a sediment and erosion control plan in coordination with a civil engineer.
DCAT Transmission Line

Kestrel Place

Elevate has been retained to provide environmental monitoring and reporting services. The project involves construction on a steep lot and highly constrained water-front lot. The project is ongoing.
Liard Hotsprings Provincial Park
Client: Bear Mountain Construction Ltd.

Project: Deck and Change-house Demolition and Construction
Services: Environmental Management Planning
Construction of the pool deck and change house occurred at the Liard Hotsprings alpha pool. Most of the work was on dry-land but some of the work was in the water. The alpha pool and the surrounding Liard Hotspring complex are inhabited by the Federally Red-listed Hot Water Physa snail. The snail and it’s habitat are protected under the key legislation: Species At Risk Act (SARA) and the Fisheries Act. In order to work at this site, the contractor was required by BC Parks to demonstrate plans to minimize risks and reduce potential impacts to the snail, it’s habitat, and the overall environment. To address this and other BC Parks requirements, the contractor hired Elevate to prepare an Environmental Management Plan, Communications Plan, Construction Plan and Safety Plan. On short notice, Elevate prepared a set of comprehensive, concise, and easy-to-use plans. Both BC Parks and the client were very pleased with the plans. The project was completed successfully, without incident, in the fall/winter of 2012.
Barona Beach
Location: West Kelowna, BC
Project: Shoreline Erosion Protection and Habitat Restoration

Barona Beach contacted Elevate for assistance with an erosion problem along the Okanagan Lake shoreline of their property. An unprotected portion of the shoreline was being eroded by wave action and there were concerns that a nearby building would be impacted. Melony Catana coordinated the services of a geotechnical engineer to assist her with the development of a restoration plan, which included a retaining wall and a riparian restoration landscape plan. Melony also prepared a Section 9 Application and assisted with the preparation of a Development Permit Application to the District of West Kelowna. Both permits were successful. On The Mark was the contractor hired to do the work. The work involved construction of a lock block retaining wall, access paths, rock stairs and native landscape vegetation. The work was successfully completed in spring of 2013.

Principal of Elevate, Melony Catana, AScT, was involved with these projects while she worked at EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd. Development at the Sheerwater Community has been ongoing since 2005. Melony has participated in providing environmental services at various stages and for several clients at Sheerwater. Services included: environmental assessment, environmental management planning, erosion and sediment control design, landscape design, hazard tree assessment, and environmental monitoring.
